Team Retreat Portugal March 2025

A few days ago, I had the chance to spend almost a week in Faro, Portugal, with two incredible teams, RootstockCollective and RootstockLabs, for our annual retreat.

Like many of us in web3, I’ve been working fully remote for years. It’s something I love and advocate for, but I’ll be honest: there’s nothing quite like meeting your teammates in person. Spending days together, sharing meals, diving into deep conversations, brainstorming new ideas, and yes, just laughing over the little things, reminded me of why community is at the core of everything we do.

This retreat wasn’t just about strategy sessions or roadmaps (though we had plenty of those). It was about connection. It was about seeing the people behind the avatars, building trust, and remembering that great work often comes from genuine relationships.

A heartfelt thank you to Samuel Knight and Maya Knight for hosting us with such care and energy, and to Marta Ramos, whose organization made everything flow seamlessly on behalf of the RootstockLabs team. She turned what could have been just another “offsite” into something truly memorable.

As I left Faro, I felt both grounded and inspired. Grounded in the strength of the people I get to work with every day, and inspired by the possibilities ahead for Rootstock. Till the next one!
